Nightlife Football Tournament 2021

In October 2021, we held a football tournament in partnership with Westway Trust, the Grenfell Foundation, London Youth, Nando’s, Street Greek, the National Lottery Community Fund, the Metropolitan Police and Chelsea FC Foundation.

The main aim of Nightlife was to provide a free, fun and positive activity for local young people aged 11 - 19 years old to get involved in during half term.

Nightlife ran from 2pm - 11pm, and was attended by 336 local young people. It took place at Westway Sports Centre football grounds. It was hosted by Turkish Delight and local rapper and footballer, Risky Javan.

We also had a DJ playing music, barbers giving haircuts, and food from local businesses. Everything was free for young people.

Local food was provided by Hamid (Grenfell survivor) who runs ‘Hamid’s Fish Bar’. Street Greek also donated hot meals and sweet treats. There was also candy floss, pancakes, slush puppies, popcorn and brownies.

You don’t see many women playing football and the fact that they have come together and are having fun, communicating, doing something loving is amazing for this community because we’re coming together and making it stronger.”

IMPACT

336 young people attended

with the majority residing in the North Kensington area.

10+ partners supported the event

by providing resources to help us host this to the community.

I think this event is great because it gives opportunity and takes people away from just sitting at home or being naughty. Instead we play football like a community.
